Launched in February with Android 5.1 Lollipop, the budget 4G smartphone Xolo Era 4G has started receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It is the first smartphone in its segment to receive and OTA Marshmallow update.
After getting updated to the OS, the users will experience a changed UI, stability improvements, and speed optimizations. It also includes some bug fixes and the basic Marshmallow features like Doze battery saving feature that hibernates the background apps when the smartphone is in standby mode. Besides it comes with app permissions to control data, and the long pressing home button feature which launches Google Now on Tap for contextual information.
Xolo claims that its Era 4G smartphone is one of the most successful budget smartphones. It revealed that the Snapdeal has sold more than 1,50,000 units of the Xolo Era 4G. It is a 4G VoLTE enabled smartphone and with the launch of Jio 4G services in India the demand of budget 4G VoLTE smartphones has gradually increased. Hence, it could be the reason for the success of the smartphone.
Priced at Rs. 4,777, the Xolo Era 4G is featured with a a 5-inch HD IPS display with 178 degree viewing angles with Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The USP of the device is its multilingual support as it offers Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
On optics front, the handset sports a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The dual-SIM Era 4G is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and 8GB internal memory expandable up to 32GB via microSD card. The handset is fueled with 2500mAh battery. It measures 145.5 x 72 x 8.45mm and weighs 142g.
