Xiaomi to launch Mi Note 2 on October 25, tipped to sport bezel-free display

The Chinese smartphone making company, Xiaomi has scheduled an event in home country on October 25 which is expected to be hosted for the launch of anticipated Mi Note 2 smartphone. The event will be holding in China at the Peking University Gymnasium on October 25 and hosted by Hong Kong-based actor Tony Leung.

Xiaomi has sent out media invites for the same which shows an image of the actor and something written in the Chinese language. However, in the subtitle, it was mentioned ‘Note 2’ in English, which also confirms the Mi Note 2’s launch.

Moreover, a recent leak suggested that the upcoming Mi Note 2 smartphone will flaunt a bezel-free display having a different look than the traditional smartphones are having. The handset will not sport any kind of sensor including front camera at its front. However, as rumoured earlier, the smartphone won’t be featured with a dual-edge display but the speculation suggesting the dual camera setup at rear could be true as the images only show its front face.

In addition, photos of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also spotted on Weibo having an all top display, with no sensors or front camera on top. These images clearly suggest that the phone will have a very thin bezel on all four sides. The photos got more credibility as they show that the phone will be running on MIUI OS.

It’s very long when rumours started surfacing the Internet suggested the specs and features of the phone. Now, Xiaomi will be putting rest on these rumours and speculations on October 25 by its launching. Besides the rumours, CEO Lei Jun himself reignited launch expectations by saying that the Mi Note 2 will “have a surprise” whenever it launches.

Citing the earlier reports, it is expected that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 821 SoC, and fueled by a 3600mAh battery. It might be launched in two variants – 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which is to be priced at CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs. 25,000) and CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 28,000) respectively.
