Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, on Tuesday, showcased its new mega size Phablet, the Mi Max along with the new MIUI 8. The Mi Max will come in three variants in China for RMB 1499 (approx. Rs 15,300), 1699 (approx. Rs 17,300) and 1999 (approx. Rs 20,400) respectively.
At the same event, Xiaomi has also rolled out a new 10000mAh Mi Power Bank, the upcoming Mi Band and a health-focused device called the new Xiaomi iHealth box .
The monster Mi Max sports a huge 6.44-inch screen providing enhances in readability of maps. Xiaomi also claims a better gameplay experience. The Phablet is powered by a 1.8GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor and comes with 32-128 GB of storage with special slots for memory expansion.
The high-end phablets come with a 4GB RAM while the lower price model is of 3GB RAM. The phablet sports a 16MP rear camera with dual tone flash and a front shooter of 5MP with 85-degree field of view to get the perfect the selfie.
The Mi Max is backed by a 4850mAh battery which the company claims to offer a continuous video playback up to fourteen hours. The connectivity options of the phablet include 4G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, GPS, Bluetooth, GLONASS, NFC, BDS, and NFC. The device will come in white, gold and grey colour variants. The smartphone sensors feature include a fingerprint scanner, a gyroscope, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer, and a compass.
The MIUI 8 will start with beta registrations on 16 May and will be made available on 1 June, whereas the developer ROM will be made available on 17 June. The UI 8 includes a spam and phishing detector for flagging suspicious messages.
It features a Power saving mode to prevent apps from downloading/ uploading updates or data for backup. Your OS can now easily solve maths problems through the camera. The UI8 also comes with a Snap and Shop feature, giving you the ease to take the product photo and shop online.
Another product which got launched is the new Xiaomi iHealth box. With the help of this device, you can measure various medical related issues such as heartbeat and blood pressure. The gadget features a 4.3-inch display, Wi-Fi connectivity and is available at a price of CNY 399 (roughly Rs. 4,000).
Also, the new 10000mAh Mi Power Bank has a 12.58mm side profile and comes with USB Type-C port. The power bank is priced at CNY 149 (roughly Rs. 1,500).
