Ayushman Khurana’s upcoming film Hawaizaada is featuring the story of a scientist named Shivkar Bapuji Talpade, who has been accredited to have invented India’s first unmanned plane even before the Wright Brothers did.

‘Hawaizaada’ is directed by debutant director Vibhu Puri and it was previously titled ‘Bambai Fairytale’.

The film is set in Mumbai (then Bombay) of 1895, dealing with the battles of Shivkar Talpade, during his construction of the airplane.

Since the background is of the 19th century, Ayushmaan had a lot of learning to do. He said, “Risks are important for an actor’s growth” when asked for his reason to choose this film. Ayushmaan had to learn Marathi and go for a complete physical transformation to be able to play the role of the Indian scientist.

Not much information about the scientist is known hence the film will be featured under the fictional biographic genre.

Ayushmaan, 30, says, “It was a challenge for me to play such a role which is completely opposite to me. I am playing a Marathi and that also from an era which is so different from now.”

Although its trailer release failed to make an impact among the youth upon its release, it did manage to spike some curiosity with Ayushmaan’s 19th century attire and the nature of the character depicted by him.

After the trailer proved to be less than what it was meant to achieve, Ayushmaan has been spotted promoting the film, dressed up as his character in the film.

The movie is set to hit the theaters on 30th January, 2015.

But the question still lingers, “Does it have what it takes to be a successful film? Will Ayushmaan be able to justify the role? Will the biopic sore high or suffer a crash-down?”

We guess, the answer is that we’ll have to wait and watch what happens.
