Indian is no doubt rapidly moving towards digitalization and providing free Wi-Fi in railway stations, and Airports are a noble part of this progression. India’s largest Airport – Indira Gandhi International Airport is going to facilitate with the free Wi-Fi service from today. As per the official reports, Delhi International Airport (Pvt) Ltd (DIAL) has shaken its hand with Vodafone India to start free Wi-Fi service inside the airport.
As announced by Vodafone on Thursday, it started rolling out free Wi-Fi service in Indira Gandhi International Airport with the partnership of DIAL and soon both terminals of Delhi Airport will be endowed with high-speed internet service at free of cost. The free Wi-Fi service was being examined in the Airport since last three months, and with greater response and positive feedbacks, the project is decided to implement in the airport on the permanent basis. Simply putting, the free high-speed internet service is now available for passengers at Indira Gandhi International airport.
As said by Vodafone India, the WiFi zone of Delhi Airport spreads across over 6, 00,000 sq mts and is claimed to be the largest Wi-Fi zone in India. However, this facility, for now, is only available for the Vodafone users and is expected to go live for others soon. As reported by the spokesperson of Vodafone, the company has launched these complimentary Wi-Fi services for 3G and 4G data users of Vodafone. The users of Vodafone recharging for 1GB or 2GB 3G/4G internet packs in the IGI airport or any other Wi-Fi zone powered by Vodafone will get an extra 1GB free data at free of cost. This free internet is also presented on recharges of Vodafone U for 1GB 3G/4G data and above.
In order to avail this service, Vodafone Director requested the passengers of the IGI airport to go to My Vodafone Application and click on the Wi-Fi connect option in for connectivity. If the passenger is using workstations or tablets, he/she needs to select ‘VodafoneWiFi’ from the Wi-Fi availability list and log in using the OTP. In addition to free Wi-Fi, Vodafone is planning to set up additional services like data booths, kiosks, and promoters at both domestic and international terminals of Indira Gandhi International airport. With the free Wi-Fi, the passengers can enjoy a cluster of web options entertainment options like streaming of HD video, video conference calls, live TV, etc.
Speaking on this matter, Sandeep Kataria, the Director of Commercial Department of Vodafone India, said, while the needs of clients are evolving from HD voice to high-speed data requirements, Wi-Fi is no doubt a useful technology facilitate them with the seamless connectivity to a large group internet services. As more than one lakh inbound and outbound voyagers are coming to IGI Airport each day, this attempt of our company to offer free Wi-Fi at the airport will upkeep the digital interests of them, while helping them to stay connected with a large number of communities and people from all across the world.
