Unlimited data offers: Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea enter a face-off for best plans

Unlimited data offers: Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea enter a face-off for best plans Unlimited data offers: Airtel, Vodafone and Idea enter a face-off for best plans

As reliance Jio made a debut last year and set the ball rolling for unlimited free calling facility to any network, the other big players of the Indian telecom sector are all set to roll out their very own unlimited calling and unlimited data plans for their users. This would not only help the entire telecom industry to get to a more levelled platform but also ensure that the subscribers get the value for money.

Things would heat up further as Reliance Jip has launched its Jio Prime Membership program encompassing minimal per GB charges for 4G high-speed data for a bare minimal annual fee of Rs 99.

The latest plans for the call and data plans by Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, have been the talk of the town. Have a look at this concise list of all mid-range plans by different service providers in the same bracket of plans and compare what each has to offer:

Vodafone Rs 342 plan: Welcome back plan

Validity: 1 month valid for prepaid users only

Benefits: 28 GB 4G data per month with 1GB per day FUP

Vodafone Rs 346 plan: Welcome back plan

Validity: 1 month, valid for prepaid users

Benefits: 10 GB data + voice calls up to 300 minutes per day

The exact value of the plans may vary from one telecom circle to other. And so far, the plans are active for Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles.

Airtel Rs 345 plan:

Validity: 1 month, valid only for prepaid users

Benefits: 1 GB 4G data per day FUP for one month (500 MB daytime +500 MB night time) + 300 minutes worth voice calls for a month

Airtel Rs 549 plan:

Validity: 1 month, valid for prepaid users

Benefit: 1 GB 4G data per day with no restrictions on daytime and nighttime usage, 300 minutes of free voice call for a month.

The so-called unlimited calling facilities do come with certain restrictions like after exhausting the 300 minutes of bundled free calling the subscribers would be charged at the rate of 30p/minute. Also, there are also some caveats set aside for users making calls to more than a 100 unique users per week. Airtel has not officially released a word on this plan even though customers have received the information about this offer on their Airtel numbers. Users would have to sign up for this plan separately before 31 March to avail it anytime in the next 11 months.

Idea Rs 348 plan:

Validity: 28 days

Benefits: Total 14 GB data with 500 MB data per day FUP and unlimited voice calling

Intended for those users who have low data demand on their 4G smartphones, this particular plan is not available in the retail outlets or online rather the idea user can avail this plan only from his 4G enabled handset with the help of MyIdea app.

Even though the race to dish out a plan as perfect as what Jio offers, in the next few months it would be worth seeing what incumbent telecom service providers like Airtel, Idea and Vodafone could do to regain the lost ground and retain their customers.
