UAE launches Mars Science City to to give virtual experience of colonisation

The United Arab Emirates has finally launched its Mars Science City project, to inspire young minds and also to encourage its scientists and researchers to make a thorough research and understanding of the Martian environment and the possibilities of colonizing Mars in future. This revolutionary Mars Science City project which costs a whopping $135 million and it is considered as an effort to stimulate living on the surface of the Red Planet.

The project was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

The project will be spread over approximately 1.9 million square feet. The UAE introduced this new Mars science city project so that it could to lead the global scientific race to rake people to Mars. The project is a part of the Mars 2117 Strategy that was launched during the fifth World Government Summit which aims to build the first settlement on Mars in the next 100 years.

Many researchers and officials believe that the Mars Science City building will be the world’s most sophisticated structures and will incorporate a realistic simulation environment replicating the conditions and environment on Mars. The City will consist of several domes, and a group of Emirati scientists, engineers as well as designers led by a team from the Mohammad bin Rashid Space Centre and Dubai Municipality will carry out the revolutionary project. Bjarke Ingels, the internationally renowned architects, will cooperate with them to make the Mars Science City the best in the World.

This project will have advanced laboratories which stimulate the red planet’s terrain and harsh environment with the help of advanced 3D printing technology and heat and radiation insulation. An official statement revealed that the project would contain laboratories for food, water and energy and also for agricultural testing and food security studies. A museum will be built inside the Mars Science City which will display Humanity’s greatest space achievements. This project will definitely encourage young minds and upcoming astronomers to explore space, and it will act as an important reference model for future innovation and discoveries regarding sustaining of life hostile planetary environment like that of Mars.
