In the days that are leading to the G20 Summit in Hamburg, around 52 mayors of many great cities in the world that represented 275 million numbers of citizens released a statement which asked the leaders of G20:  “Are you ready to save Earth?” Their initiative for the action on the change of climate was assisted by a petition which was signed by around 50,000 people across the world.

On the part of the C40 which is a network of 91 cities in the world committed to action regarding the climate change, we are very much grateful that around 19 out of all the G20 leaders have accepted and paid attention to our calls and recognised that the Paris Agreement is “irreversible”. The statements that were made by the President Macron, Chancellor Merkel, President Xi, Prime Minister May and other in Hamburg, present that most of the richest nations in the world identify the emergency of the crisis regarding climate change and are very much ready to act.

In the presence of the decision of United States for the withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, it is not that baffling that President Trump finds himself to be isolated on the issues related to the climate changes.

The negotiators from the United States may have achieved success in the insertion of a reference to the fossil fuels in the final Communique of G20, but the shift towards the sources of renewable energy and sustainable growth cannot be reversed back.

The Deadline 2020 report of C40 clears up the emergency of the climate crisis. This is the reason why the mayors of the great cities of the world are already providing the immediate action for handling the climate change. Most of the cities of C40 across the globe, including the many cities of United States, have committed to cent percent of targets of renewal energy.
