Microsoft-owned firm SwiftKey off-ramp its cloud sync service due to the privacy contravene, reported by several users. To summon up, SwiftKey is that company which was purchased by Microsoft in last February at $250 million which is around Rs. 1,702 crores in Indian exchange.
Since past few days, several users of SwiftKey keyboard app have become argumentative about the privacy issues of the app. As per the complaints, the app has been leaking mobile numbers and email addresses of several users, and as a result, the owner firm suspends its Sync services for a temporary period. Without any sync mode, the app started giving unusual suggestions to its users.
After facing issues like e-mail and mobile number suggestions from the app, which they never synced, some users start posting their grumbles on Reddit. According to a user, the app used to give him suggestions in German language, even if the app was on UK English mode. He also claimed that he had never typed anything in German, and his app is also installed in UK English mode.
As many users of SwiftKey Keyboard faced such issues in their app, the owner firm shelved its Sync services. Moreover, the company also posted a long message regarding this. They wrote: This week, many clients saw sudden forecasts where new terms, and in some uncommon cases messages, leaked when using their phones. The developer team is working on the issues and will soon try to determine these problems.
They also added that the company had impeded the sync service of the app so that these matters won’t create any security harm to the users. During the period of improvisations, the users won’t be able to make any reverse in their language model.
