At a meeting called to revive the future of Congress, Sonia Gandhi set the tone by targeting Narendra Modi for ignoring the issues put up by her companions against Modi for his anti-poor policies.
At the meet, she said “Influential members of the government and the party have been making provocative statements. This, in many ways, is a continuation of the strategy of polarisation adopted by them in last year’s Lok Sabha and recent assembly elections as well.”
Congress’s Twitter account also said “Modi has chosen to ignore provocative statements by the members of his government. This is a continuation of the strategy of polarisation… The true colours of the Modi government are now coming out.”“What is equally if not more alarming is that in the past few weeks, the true colours and intentions of the Prime Minister and the BJP have become abundantly clear.”
“What is equally if not more alarming is that in the past few weeks, the true colours and intentions of the Prime Minister and the BJP have become abundantly clear.”
The meet which was meant to discuss the party issues, turned into a controversial one after Sonia Gandhi marked a comment on BJP. This meeting was finally turned to discussion about pushing the ruling party on backfoot.
Mrs Gandhi also said pointing to the increase in 3% rise in price of selected crops “While the Prime Minister makes much of lowering inflation, he doesn’t mention how he has lowered the income of farmers.”
Youth Congress leader Mr Rahul Gandhi also said in the meeting that BJP didn’t win but Congress lost because of their small mistakes which led to the communication gap between the workers and leaders of the party. Congress also ensured that this mistake will not be repeated.
“The BJP did not win, we have lost,” he said.
The meeting was almost four hours long, and major party issues and changes that need to be taken were discussed.
