World has more than one billion smokers and 240 million drinkers, claims study

Smoking has been always dangerous to health, and the recent study makes it even worst. The extent to which smoking can damage the DNA of a person has been revealed by a latest study.

The vast amount of damage that smoking can cause to your DNA has been revealed in a new study, exploring how tobacco smoking affects cells within the human body. Cells of a person consuming one packet of cigarette each day has been found to have undergone extensive changes within a year, according to the studies.

According to the studies, the cells in body, which directly come across with the smokes especially do suffer from extensive damage. Tobacco smoking hampers human DNA, at the same time hastens the mutational rotation in those parts, which come across the smoke directly or indirectly. The hastened mutation is nothing but the accelerated genetic mutations, which always involves risks of cancer.

Earlier studies were only able to explain the physiological links of smoking and cancer. However, the recent studies can make a broader analysis and can explain about the molecular changes occur in DNA due to smoking. It is here to note that smoking involves about 17 different kinds of cancer threats. Cancer due to smoking kills about 6 million people every year.

Tobacco is a blend of numerous harmful chemicals. In fact, about 60% of these chemicals are carcinogenic in nature. Hence, smoking such agents is obvious to cause cancer, facilitating mutation in genes. Accelerating mutation always involves threats of generating cancer generating genes. A chain smoker, even someone who smokes a pack everyday, holds possibility of developing about 150 additional mutations in their lungs every year. This claim makes it obvious that the smokers are more probable to be affected with lung cancer.  Male smokers being specific hold greater possibility of suffering from cancer, than the females. Statistics say that the male smokers hold 23 times more chance of being affected

Male smokers being specific hold greater possibility of suffering from cancer, than the females. Statistics say that the male smokers hold 23 times more chance of being affected from cancer, in comparison to a male who doesn’t smoke. In case of female, there is 13 times more chance for a female smoker to suffer from lung cancer, in comparison to a female who never smokes.

Genome sequences of more than 5k tumors from 17 different kinds of cancer caused due to smoking were scanned by the scientists, to come up with above revelation. Such genomes were studied of both the male and female smokers and nonsmokers, and given an analytic dig.
