Almost one year after revealing the W2016 in China, the South Korean giant Samsung has wrapped off curtain from its successor model “Samsung W2017” on Thursday. Samsung W2017 is the high-end Android-powered flip phone which is currently exclusive to the Chinese market and is less expected to go live in other markets. With a dual-display and a fingerprint scanner, W2017 has already been listed on Samsung’s Chinese website and like its precursor W2016; it is not likely to be introduced outside of China.

In terms of specifications, Samsung W2017 smartphone is a dual-screened phone which is enriched with two 4.2-inch full-HD Super AMOLED displays chummed on 1080×1920 pixels screen resolution. On the software front, W2017 runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 820 SoC. Two cores of the processor are clocked at 2.1GHz, and rest two cores are clocked at 1.6GHz). In terms of storage option, the phone is backed by massive 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is further expandable up to 256GB via micro-SD card slot. In optical part, the phone packs a 12-megapixel primary snapper empowered by with a f/1.7 aperture and flash, with the 4K video recording compatibility, while the front part of the phone is featured with a 5-megapixel paired with an f/1.9 aperture.

With a hybrid dual-SIM configuration, W2017 also has 4G LTE (lacks support for Indian LTE bands), Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and a Micro-USB port in connectivity part. Measuring measures 127.8×61.4×15.8mm and weighing 208 grams, W2017 is backed by a 2300mAh battery which is claimed to deliver a standby time of up to 64 hours. The sensor part of this flip-flop smartphone includes an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, heart rate sensor, barometer, proximity sensor, magnetometer, and gyroscope.

Till now, the pricing and availability details of the phone are undisclosed by Samsung. But as per the latest reports of Sammobile, W2017 might be a highly expensive one, and it might cost CNY 20,000 (approximately Rs. 1.97 lakhs). As the successor, W2016 is priced at CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs. 98,700), the price range of CNY 20,000 for W2017 won’t be much surprising. However, the official announcement is still awaited.
