The World No. 3 Indian women shuttler Saina Nehwal retained her Syed Grand Prix title after winning over Spain’s Carolina Marin at the $120,000 Syed Modi International Badminton Championship on Sunday. Saina showed her tremendous performance with a comeback in the match after losing first set and saved two match points in the second set. She also won this title last year at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium. She again proved her metal this year by defeating Spanish World No. 7 Marin in one hour 19 minutes by 19-21, 25-23, 21-16.
By winning her first title of 2015, Saina also made a hat-trick win over Marin in as many face-offs between them. Saina did not seem at her best in starting of the match that she showed in her previous matches. In first set, Marlin put pressure on her opponent with her momentum and some great shots. Saina took lead in the middle of the set but was not able to continue her lead. She was not able to keep her patience in the game and gave some silly points in favor of Spaniard. Hyderabadi lost her first set, but the second set was a neck-and-neck game from the starting to ending. Both the players did not allow each other to concede points from silly mistakes. Saina saved two match points in the crucial situation but in the end Saina took game point in deciding moments. Saina won the set and took the momentum in the game. Saina won Grand Prix title in women’s category by winning third set very comfortably.
Parupalli Kashyap also displayed excellent performance in men’s single final on Sunday and got the victory against World No. 5 Kidambi Srikanth in two sets by 23-21, 23-21 in 52 minutes. Both the players gave blood drenching performance that was a delight to watch, but in the end, Kashyap succeeded to win Men’s Grand Prix title.

Women Doubles: Amelia Alicia Anscelly & Fie Cho Soong (Mas) defeated Vivian Kah Mun Hoo & Khe Wei Woon (Mas) 22-20, 21-15.
Mixed doubles: Riky Widianto & Puspita Richi Dili (Ina) beat Manu Attri & K. Maneesha 21-17, 21-17.
