Sacha Baron Cohen Responds to Criticism From Trump: “I Don’t Find You Funny Either”

President Donald Trump was recently asked to weigh in on Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat: Subsequent MovieFilm. Donald Trump made a bizarre comment about Cohen, “I don’t know what happened. But years ago, you know, he [Baron Cohen] tried to scam me and I was the only one who said no way.” Trump went on to say, “That’s a phony guy and I don’t find him funny. To me, he’s a creep.”

Responding to Donald Trump’s assessment of the actor as creepy and phony, Sacha Baron Cohen tweeted a scathing response to Donald Trump on Saturday, Oct. 24. This is what Cohen said:

“Donald — I appreciate the free publicity for Borat! I admit, I don’t find you funny either. But yet the whole world laughs at you. I’m always looking for people to play racist buffoons, and you’ll need a job after Jan. 20. Let’s talk!”

The tension between Baron Cohen and the Trump White House ensued after the release of Borat 2, officially titled as Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan on October 23.

Most notably, Rudy Giuliani’s appearance in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm sparked the controversy. A footage of Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani is shown in the movie in a compromising position with Tutar played by Maria Bakalova.Trump was asked by the reporters on Friday night to comment on Rudy Giuliani’s footage.

Tensions between Cohen and Trump has occured in the past as well. Cohen had lashed at Trump in 2018 after President Trump had referred to Cohen as a “third-grade character” who “needs to learn about funny.”

President Donald Trump had appeared briefly on Da Ali G Show in 2003, but walked away from an interview with Baron Cohen’s Ali G character just after a minute. Baron Cohen has been quite vocal about what he feels about Trump. He wrote an op-ed for Time Magazine about Trump’s rise to power as the rise of antisemitism, white supremacy and conspiracy theories.

Cohen had donned a bulletproof vest to crash at a far-right rally in Washington state to shoot a footage for his Borat sequel, because he said that he feared for his life. Sacha Baron Cohen’s mockumentary film is now in the headlines after Trump’s lawyer came under a scrutiny.
