As soon Reliance Jio has announced its Prime membership plans, the other major telcos have also launched their plans in the market. The companies have launched the free voice calling plans around Rs. 150, while the calling plus data plans will go around Rs. 350. Offerings in these plans differ from company to company.

Even though the race to dish out a plan as perfect as what Jio offers, in the next few months it would be worth seeing what incumbent telecom service providers like Airtel, Idea and Vodafone could do to regain the lost ground and retain their customers.

Reliance Jio Plans

Rs 96 Jio Plan

  • Validity: 7 days
  • Benefits: 600 MB 4G data and other standard benefits applicable (non-prime), 7GB Data with FUP of 1 GB per day for prime users.

Rs 149 Jio Plan

  • Validity: 28 days
  • Benefits: 1 GB 4G data for nonprime users, 2GB data for prime users

Rs 303 Jio Plan

  • This plan is applicable for both prepaid and postpaid users.
  • Validity: 28 days for prepaid users, one billing cycle for postpaid users
  • Benefits: 2.5 GB 4G data for Non-prime prepaid users. 28 GB 4G data for Jio prime users with 1GB per day FUP for prime users.  For postpaid new users, the pack offers 30 GB 4G data over the billing cycle.

Rs 499 Jio Plan

  • Applicable to both prepaid and postpaid users
  • Validity:  28 days for prepaid users and one billing cycle for postpaid users
  • Benefits: for nonprime Jio users the pack would offer 5GB 4G data. For prime Jio users, the same package offers 56 GB data for prepaid users (2GB per day FUP) and 60 GB for postpaid users( 2GB per day FUP)

However, competing with the firms, Jio has also launched pool data for its existing data plans, for which the user will get a pool data of 5GB and 10GB for Rs. 303 and Rs. 499 plans, respectively. This pool data will be utilised when the customer crosses the daily FUP i.e 1GB and 2GB, respectively.

Airtel Plans

Airtel Rs 345 plan

  • Validity: 1 month, valid only for prepaid users
  • Benefits: 1 GB 4G data per day FUP for one month (500 MB daytime +500 MB night time) + 300 minutes worth voice calls for a month

Airtel Rs 549 plan

  • Validity: 1 month, valid for prepaid users
  • Benefit: 1 GB 4G data per day with no restrictions on daytime and nighttime usage, 300 minutes of free voice call for a month.

The so-called unlimited calling facilities do come with certain restrictions like after exhausting the 300 minutes of bundled free calling the subscribers would be charged at the rate of 30p/minute. Also, there are also some caveats set aside for users making calls to more than a 100 unique users per week. Airtel has not officially released a word on this plan even though customers have received the information about this offer on their Airtel numbers. Users would have to sign up for this plan separately before 31 March to avail it anytime in the next 11 months.

Vodafone Plans

Vodafone Rs 342: Welcome back plan

  • Validity: 1 month valid for prepaid users only
  • Benefits: 28 GB 4G data per month with 1GB per day FUP

Vodafone Rs 346 plan: Welcome back plan

  • Validity: 1 month, valid for prepaid users
  • Benefits: 10 GB data + voice calls up to 300 minutes per day

The exact value of the plans may vary from one telecom circle to other. And so far, the plans are active for Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles.

Idea Plans

Idea Rs 348 plan

  • Validity: 28 days
  • Benefits: Total 14 GB data with 500 MB data per day FUP and unlimited voice calling

Intended for those users who have low data demand on their 4G smartphones, this particular plan is not available in the retail outlets or online rather the idea user can avail this plan only from his 4G enabled handset with the help of MyIdea app.
