North Delhi Municipal Corporation has asked the Reliance Jio Infocomm to set up the Wi-Fi networks in the central Delhi by June this year. According to an individual involved in this matter, officials have stated that, “NDMC has asked Reliance Jio to install Wi-Fi network in area that falls under its jurisdiction. RJio has been asked to complete the rollout by June.”
Installing Wi-Fi services is a part of Digital India mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Every town or city, that has a population above ten lakhs, along with the tourist places are going to have Wi-Fi services installed by the end of year of 2015. Deadline for this project to finish is December 2015.
According to the reports, the telecom company, Reliance Jio is expected to use the street lights for installing the devices. The devices will be enabled with satellite communication and will be able to give high-speed bandwidths in the areas nearby government offices, embassies, central marketing areas, CBD and NDMC colonies. Soon the company will expand it even further.
“Reliance Jio has already started installation and have expressed to complete the rollout before June,” the source said.
Reliance is also working on providing the 4G connectivity across the 5000 towns and cities in the country.
However, on the other end Reliance Jio Infocomm President Sumit D Choudhary vacated his position to start his own venture. “I have quit to start my own venture. It is in the field of smart cities,” Chowdhury said.
The resignation is third biggest exit from the Reliance Jio within one last month, and interesting part is that it all started when its manager Sandeep Das was moved to the Reliance Retail.
Chowdhary joined this company in they year 2012 as the Chief Information Office for one year, however, soon moved forward and started leading this company.
