Oppo, a Chinese smartphone giant held a launch event today in Shanghai where it launched its latest Reno series comprising of two variants i.e. Oppo Reno standard edition and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition with one of the most interesting aspects, a unique pop-up camera wedge that raises from within in a different way that makes it unique in its senses.

Speaking about the base Oppo Reno standard edition, the device has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with Snapdragon 710 churning within bundled with 6GB & 8GB and 128GB, 256GB internal storage configuration. The device comes with an above-average 3,765 mAh battery paired along with VOOC 3.0 fast charging which is considered faster than its previous generation.

The standard variant has a dual-camera setup comprising of a main 48MP IMX586 sensor that you’ll find in the 10x Zoom Edition as well. The secondary lens is a 5MP depth sensor that will allow the device to take bokeh shots and more and videos up to 4K 30fps paired with electronic stabilization but yes, there’s no fancy features with the standard variant available so chill.

The device comes in three trims with a lower 6GB/GB costs CNY2,999 or $450, mid 6GB/256GB at CNY3,299 or $490 while the larger 8GB/256GB costs CNY3,599 or $540. But its really the 10x Zoom Edition that we are fairly excited for.

Presenting the 10x Zoom Edition of Oppo Reno that offers a larger 6.6” FHD+ AMOLED display with a93.1% screen-to-body ratio. It is also the first Oppo device to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 octa-core processor that makes it an exciting prospect to consider if you are thinking about buying a new flagship smartphone.

The device is paired with 4,065 mAh battery with Oppo’s proprietary VOOC 3.0 fast charging which is considered 1/4th times faster than its previous variant. But of course, let’s see what it brings in the camera department. The device has a main 48MP sensor which you will find in the standard version as well but its secondary cam is a 13MP f/3.0 periscope zoom camera capable to excelling in clicking pictures and videos at 5x optical and 10x hybrid zoom thanks to its periscopic zoom system while a third 8MP f/2.2 super wide camera gives it a 120-degrees view and if you combined all the three lenses, the triple camera setup packs in a variable focal length from 16mm to 160mm with the said 10x hybrid zoom that you’ll also find on the latest Huawei P30 Pro.

Speaking about the various add-ons that you’ll see with its triple camera setup, the device excels at video recording at 4K 60fps paired with its hybrid stabilization system while its primary and secondary camera has laser autofocus and optical stabilization as well. Anywho, the front camera is placed in a rather interesting pop-up mechanism that pops up like a wedge with its 16MP shooter. Finally, its all about the pricing, the device comes in three trims i.e. 6GB/128GB at $600, 6GB/256GB at $670, and finally, 8GB/256GB at $710 which is, in fact, a 25% increase but look at what you are getting with it.

The device comes with Snapdragon 855, large 4,065 mAh battery as the elder sibling and has a Snapdragon X50 modem to support its 5G network. The device will cost around $1,000 which is way less than what other 5G-enabled devices such as LG V50 ThinQ 5G ($1,100), Samsung Galaxy S10 5G ($1,300) and others are offering.
