As earlier rumored, Oppo Electronics Corp. has finally unveiled its anticipated handsets, R9s and R9s Plus smartphones. Both of the handsets are successors of Oppo R9, which also offer excellent specs to rival flagship phones and add value for money.
Wrapping few distinct improvements, the handsets deliver the valuable Sony sensor and a fingerprint sensor is located below the display inside the Home Button. The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus are almost identical in terms of design but the difference is in their size, some specs and prices.
The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus are available for pre-order in China in Gold, Rose Gold and Black colour variants. The company further mentioned that the R9s will go on sale from October 28, while the R9s Plus will be available in December. The price tag of the base R9s model is 2,799 Yuan ($410, Rs. 27,700) and 3,499 Yuan ($520, Rs. 34,700) for the R9s Plus.
Oppo R9s Plus specifications
As the name suggests, the Oppo R9s Plus is the larger variant of the two. The smartphone holds a 6-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection, Capacitive touchscreen, with 16M colors and Multitouch. It is mechanized by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor (four Cortex A72 clocked 1.95 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 to 1.44 GHz), paired with 6GB RAM and Adreno 510 GPU. The Oppo R9s Plus grant 64GB of internal storage that can be further expanded via the hybrid microSD card slot (up to 128GB).
The Oppo R9s Plus runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Operating System with the ColorOS 3.0 skin on top, and sports a hybrid dual-SIM (nano + nano/microSD) dual-standby card slot. A 4000mAh of battery with VOOC flash charging technology, fuels the handset.
Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS. The Oppo R9s Plus measures 163.63×80.8×7.35mm and weighs 185g.

Approaching to the another variant, the Oppo R9s holds a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is controlled by 2.0GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 128GB via the hybrid microSD card slot and Adreno 506 GPU.
It packs a smaller 3010mAh battery with VOOC fast charging tech, and the optics lack OIS. The Oppo R9s measures at Dimensions 153×74.3×6.58mm and weighs 145 grams.
Both of the Oppo smartphone share a 16-megapixel main camera with dual-tone LED flash, sensor from Sony, the 1/2.8-inch IMX398, OIS, and LED flash. Meanwhile, an additional 16-megapixel sensor is also placed upfront for selfies.
The further revealed that the handsets come with three antenna lines with just 0.3mm width, while traditional metal smartphones features 1.5mm to 2mm width antenna lines.
The company announced that the Oppo R9s and R9s Plus will be launching in Australia, Taiwan, and Singapore shortly, though the company hasn’t declared when exactly that will happen. We’ll Keep an ear to the ground for those details, so stay tuned.
