OPPO Electronics Corporation, a subsidiary of BBK Electronics in India has recently launched its new smartphone Oppo A83 on Wednesday. Oppo A83 enters in the mid-range smartphone category in India. As exclusively reported by Gadgets 360, the smartphone will retail for Rs 13,990, available for purchase through online portals like Amazon and Flipkart as well as offline retail stores starting from coming Saturday.
In India, Oppo retail stores are hard to miss on the streets due to their vast hoardings and banners, and as expected, all the stores will now be boasting this latest launch through advertisements all around.
The notable features of the Oppo A83 include AI Beauty recognition technology and an HD display with 18:9 aspect ratio. It will be available in two colours – Black and Gold. The same smartphone was already launched in China in December last year, with Black and Champagne colour options to choose from.
The Chinese smartphone maker has designed the phone with what is called the UFO Curve Design Philosophy. Hence the smartphone has a display with thin bezels and features the company’s AI Beauty Recognition technology that enhances selfies and group shots using unique Artificial Intelligence. The technology as mentioned earlier captures more than 200 facial points to refine features and compose the face contour with precision for further image processing to beautify the images. No wonder Oppo phones are targeted mostly to the selfie-obsessed ones.
Talking about the specifications, the Oppo A83 features a 5.7-inch HD plus LCD with a 1440 x 720p resolution. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek 6763T chipset clocking 2.5 GHz, along with a 4 GB RAM, combined with 32 GB of internal storage, further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. Oppo A83 packs a sufficient 3180 mAh battery and has dual sim layout, both the grooves being nano-sim. The other specifications of the smartphone are standard having Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, OTG, and 4G VoLTE among others, while the onboard sensors include ambient light, accelerometer, and proximity.
The Oppo A83 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat-based ColorOS 3.2 operating system, which is easy to figure out and get around. The optics on the smartphone boasts a 13 MP rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture lens and an LED flash, while on the front there’s an 8 MP camera, which supports face unlock along with the aforementioned AI-based beautification mode first debuted in the Oppo F5. The company claims this technology can unlock the phone in duration as quick as 0.18 seconds.
