With the era started by Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, every smartphone maker is looking forward to launch its flagship handset with a dual edge display. Continuing the same, the Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is reportedly working on a handset with the dual edge display.
A Korean website, koreanportal.com suggested in a post that OnePlus will skip ‘4’ in the lineup and expectedly launch OnePlus 5 smartphone with dual edge display. The website also noted that the OnePlus 5 handset will be featured with an all glass body design. It is assumed that since number 4 is believed to be unlucky in China, hence the manufacturer might be skipped to number 5.
Citing the post, it seems that the OnePlus 5 is inspired from Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge as the former is also expected to come with wireless charging and edge display. While body design of the handset is inspired from Xiaomi Mi Mix which comes with a ceramic-like glass body design.
As far specs are concerned, it is assumed that if the OnePlus 5 will launch earlier, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 830 as Samsung has locked out the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset to steal the limelight. Or else the company may wait it out till the 835 becomes available. Along with the new chipset, we can expect the usual 6GB RAM (or 8 considering that OnePlus does not stay behind in the specs department) and 64GB of internal storage. A newer 256GB storage option is also expected.
Observing the flagships available today, the OnePlus 5 could be expected to be featured with 6GB or 8Gb of RAM, considering that OnePlus does not stay behind in the specs. On storage part, a 64GB storage variant of the handset must be launched, however, a 256GB storage option is also expected.
As per a report published on Tech2, The OnePlus 5 will sport a 23-megapixel of rear camera which will, in combination with e 830/835 offer a better photography, performance and imagery experience. It is also expected to sport a 16-megapixel of front shooter.
Other details include a USB Type-C port along with the usual fast charging, a 4,000mAh battery and a front facing 16MP camera module that is expected to be similar to the current model.
