Soon after rolling out OxygenOS 3.5.4 firmware update for OnePlus 3T, the company has announced that targeting the Jio fever in India, it has released OxygenOS 3.5.5 firmware update for OnePlus 2 smartphone which makes it support the VoLTE networks.
The update will be rolled out in phases, so the ones who still hasn’t received it will soon get an OTA notification in coming days.
With the latest update, the OnePlus 2 users will be able to use a Jio SIM card in their smartphones to get benefits of free data and unlimited voice calling. The new update notification will put up OxygenOS to version 3.5.5 on OnePlus 2 and will introduce superior system stability, bug fixes, with the pairing of some extra benefits. However, it doesn’t bring the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat to the devices.
The VoLTE support for the OnePlus 2 smartphone was earlier announced in September when Jio Welcome Offer was rolled out. The support will unlock the smartphone to use Jio Network, however, it supports only specific VoLTE networks, not all. Hence, if some telco launches its VoLTE network in India, then the handset might not support the same.
The company noted that the update will replace Clock, Calculator and Messages app to the stock OnePlus apps if the corresponding Google apps were never updated. Users will be provided an option to choose then later. Device name, ringtones, accent colours, and the battery bar indicator will also be updated.
OnePlus is also requesting users to give feedback, after updating their devices to the new firmware OxygenOS 3.5.5. On its forum, OnePlus also offers some useful links and information for its users. It offers information regarding downgrading the firmware of the phone, tips to unlock more features etc.
