The Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram has been held responsible for a bombing in a town named Diffa situated in southeastern Niger. A female suicide bomber was used to carry this task, and the bomb went off in the marketplace that is usually crowded with the residents of the city as well as tourists.
This incident has been second in line with the other one happening on Friday this week. But this time the Niger army arrived on time and fought with Boko Haram extremists till the extremists fled for life and calm was restored in the city.
Boko Haram is also involved in kidnapping around 279 girls from Chibok last year and over 2500 children from all over the country. Nobel peace prize winner Malala Yousafzai has been fighting the Chibok girls cause calling for help from nation’s politicians since the incident that took place in April 2014.
She claims that if the girls were from wealthy families then something would have been done up until now, but since they come from impoverished lands, nothing is done yet. Her father also wrote to the parents of Chibok girls saying that they haven’t forgotten the incident and are still fighting for the cause.
Boko Haram’s latest bombing incident has led to people coming out in protests. Not just that but five African nations have also committed to deploying 8 700 troops inclusive of police and civilians in an effort to fight Boko Haram extremists.
With Boko Haram terrorizing all these cities, the count of people suffering at their hands cannot be counted. This uncountable killing needs to be stopped and soon. Groups like Boko Haram need to be taught a lesson that should serve as a terrorizing example to those who even think of doing such unspeakable deeds as trying to take lives at their whims and wishes.
