volkswagen jetta facelift 2015 tecake

The German automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen launched the face-lifted model of its executive sedan, Jetta, today. When first launched, Jetta created a lot of buzz among the Volkswagen fans and auto enthusiasts. The executive car was first globally debuted at 2014 New York Motor Show. It was hugely successful in the European and American countries, but that wasn’t the case with Indian Market, and the manufacturing of the car was brough to halt.

The facelifted model of the car features some tweaks that include a new front fascia with new triple slat grille with chrome inserts, bi-xenon front headlamps, redesigned bumpers with wider air intakes, new LED daytime running lamps (only in Highline variant) and an adaptive lighting system with dynamic cornering, that angles along with the steering movements. The rear of the car is pretty much similar to the previous models, and it features slight tweaks like restyled tail lamp assembly and a reworked boot lid.

“Drawing from the impeccable standards set by its predecessor, the New Jetta goes a notch further,” Volkswagen stated in the launch invite for India. It further added, “while its bold design additions and sharp contours leave you mesmerised, its powerful engine and re-crafted interiors complete the enchantment.”
The car features the same old engine, with two powertrain options, the 1.4 liters TSI petrol and the 2.0 liters turbocharged diesel. Both engines are inline four cylinders and turbocharged, the 1.4 liter TSI churns peak power of 122 PS at 5000 rpm and the maximum torque of 200 Nm 1500 rpm onwards. To transfer the power to the wheels, the engine uses six-speed manual transmission that is very smooth in this category.
Volkswagen did not reveal any price related information yet, but the new executive sedan, Jetta, is expected to cost anything between Rs 13.6 – 20 lakhs (ex-showroom). The rivals of the car in this segments include Skoda Octavia, which features MQB platform, Chevrolet Cruze, Renault Fluence, Hyundai Elantra, and Toyota Corolla.
