Reliance Jio needs no introduction. It is a true phenomenon of Indian telecom industry and has taken the entire Indian market by storm. With unlimited free offers for a voice call, the Internet, messaging, and live TV streaming, Jio has soon proved to be the ultimate king of telecom segment of India. But, one of the biggest problems that Reliance Jio has kept on going through is the lack of sufficient interconnection port due to which the users of Jio are facing serious call drops and network errors.
However, to deal with such situations, Jio has again written applications to its revelries like Vodafone and Idea Cellular for providing sufficient interconnection points. This is not for the first time that Jio has appealed the primary players of Indian telecom market for interconnection port. It previously has asked for the sale numerous times and has gotten negative replies from opponents. But this time, Jio has again taken a step forward to write Idea and Vodafone for providing satisfactory interconnection port, while alleging them for making “unlawful and illegal delay” in providing the required connections.
Jio, referring to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has written two separate letters to Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, asking more interconnection points for improving its call quality and network availability. In the letter, it also has taken the reference of TRAI’s directions which was issued to telecom operators on 7th October for tenacity the call quality issues. While writing two separate letters to Vodafone and Idea, Jio said, with respect to the published guideline of TRAI, Reliance Jio asked for the instant discharge of the deficit in E1s.
Jio in the letters has clearly mentioned that the opponent networks are causing the call drop issues of Jio by not providing sufficient interconnection network. TRAI on 7th October has released a report in which it is reported to observe the high level of call overcrowding in telecom networks which is creating more issues of call failure, specifically on the network of Reliance Jio, and in response to this, Jio has written the opponent telcos to provide more connection points, without making illegal delay.
Jio, in the letters also alleged that the major players of Indian telecom segment like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea are rebuffing to supply it the required amount of interconnection points, which in other ways is leading towards poor network and call drop issues, etc. However, the opponents have said that they have already supplied enough points of interconnection (PoIs) to Jio, n order to meet its requirements and allegations brought up by Jio are completely false.
