Joining the price slashing spree in the Indian smartphone market, today the Xiaomi Redmi 2 has received a price cut of Rs. 1000. The device is now available at Rs. 5,999, which was earlier launched at Rs. 6,999. Xiaomi has already teased its fan about the price cut through its official Twitter handle.
The phrase, ‘Paint the Town Red’ written on the poster in the tween directly points to the Redmi 2 smartphone.
Previously, Xiaomi has announced a price cut of Rs. 2,000 on its Redmi Note 4G phablet, which is now available in market at Rs. 7,999, meanwhile, the flagship device of the company, Mi4 has received the price cut, twice. Its 64 GB variant was unveiled with a price tag of Rs. 23,999 and now its prices are slashed down to Rs. 19,999.

Refreshing tech specs, the Redmi 2 runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat supported by 1.2 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor that deals with 1 GB of RAM. It is also featured with a 4.7 inches IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels of resolution and 312 ppi of pixel density.
Under the hood, the firm is offering a 2200 mAh of battery to the device and an 8 gigabytes of internal storage that can be expandable via a micro SD card.
The mobile phone is fronted with a 2 megapixel,720p of a secondary camera. Meanwhile, the back of the device boasts a 8 megapixel of autofocus primary image snapper that is featured with LED flash.
The device comes in two variants, one comes with 8 GB of internal storage that is coupled with a 1 GB of RAM, whereas the 16 GB variant sports 2 GB of RAM. However, the device is also available in various color range as it comes in Black, White, Yellow, Pink, Green colors.
On the design front, the plastic build dual-SIM droid phone measures 134 x 67.2 x 9.4 mm in dimensions and weighs 133 g.
