The smartphone manufacturing startup, OnePlus is all set to launch its another ‘flagship killer’. The firm officially revealed that the OnePlus One successor One Plus Two smartphone will be unveiled on July 27.
“We’re excited for the future. As a tech startup, our goal is to push the envelope, look for new opportunities, and strive to perfect them. Virtual reality holds a monumental amount of potential. With cutting-edge technology, we can explore corners of the world like never before. We already know that VR will change the face of the entertainment industry, but we’re here to try something new, ” founder Carl Pei said in an official blog post.
“A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship. You’ll be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs. It’s a new way of thinking about a product launch. We aren’t talking at you; we are talking with you.”
Commenting on the launch, he further added, “When we thought about doing this launch in VR, we wanted to make sure the viewing experience was simple and straightforward. We love the existing cardboard VR headsets, but we saw some room for improvement, and decided to design our own custom headsets. We spent a lot of time at the drawing board tweaking them until they were perfect. Our version is tailored perfectly to the One, as well as fast and easy to assemble. We didn’t cut any corners on production, and we’re definitely losing money on this. But, we want to share them with everyone. For an even closer look, be sure to check out our OnePlus Cardboard page.”
Unveiling the device’s launching date, Pei said, “We can’t wait to launch the OnePlus 2 with all of you, together, on July 27th. Check back in soon for more details on how to get your very own OnePlus Cardboard. We’ll see you at the launch!”
The firm has added an exclusive web page for the Cardboard VR Headset, which provides detailed information about the headset to the users.
Previously, the company has revealed that the device will boast a USB Type-C port. Making the announcement on social networking handles, the company spokesperson posted, “Our second spec revealed: The OnePlus2 will be the first flagship smartphone to use the latest Type C USB. We want to lead the way in power connectivity.”
The USB Type-C cable is a reversible cable so the user doesn’t need to check which side of the connector is up while inserting it. The Type-C port also allows file transfer with high speeds (up to 10 Gbps) and allows the smartphone to charge faster.
Earlier, leaks were surfacing on the Internet suggesting the specifications and Benchmark Tests for the OnePlus Two smartphone. The leaks reveal that the smartphone will boast a Snapdragon 810 Octa Core processor running on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. However, the smartphone may be running on the company’s latest OxygenOS, which is based on the Androids Lollipop flavor.
