Since past couple of weeks, the days are starting off with bunches of leaks about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus and the latest gossip to join the big confederacy of leaks has suggested the possibility of no under-screen fingerprint sensor or home button on the new Samsung smartphones. While the leaked source, hinting Samsung S8 and S8 Plus to drop the front-mounted fingerprint scanner, another teaser from Samsung itself, put forward some new features and colour variations for both devices.
We are just a few weeks far from the official launch of two most awaited smartphones of the year – Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Both phones are scheduled to hit the commercial market on 29th March. But before that, unofficial leaks and teasers have been taking the market by storm. Such a recent leaked report has come up with a new amethyst colour variant of both models alongside a hint that the South Korean Giant is ditching the age-old home-cum-fingerprint scanner button from its front panel.
Talking about Samsung’s official teaser first, the South Korean company seems trying to take all the propaganda and enthusiasm for the approaching Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ to the next level. Instead of releasing a photo or poster or a short video, Samsung has published a public poll on the website of its Brazilian retailer Submarino and a small questionnaire on the sign-up page of its India website.
On the India survey page, Samsung has listed down a number of questions and multiple options to select from that a Samsung user is expecting from the upcoming ‘Next Galaxy’ device. The feature choices include dust and water resistance, superior camera, and enhanced battery life, etc. The sign-up pages seem to be like a ‘feature hunt’ program of Samsung. Similarly, on its Brazilian retailer Submarino page, Samsung has asked users to choose from three new colour variants for the upcoming devices including Black, Silver, or Amethyst.
On the second and most hyped part, there is a new leak that suggests Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ ditch the home-cum-fingerprint scanner button from the front panel. The leak also recommends both phones to host the scanner at its back, under the rear camera. Following the new leak, some other reports have started recommending that Samsung’s upcoming phones will arrive with the home button, mounted on its back panel.
Among other crucial specs and functionalities, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are expected to boast 5.8-inch and a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED QHD display respectively. Similarly, under the hood, the phones are also estimated to be either powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset or Samsung’s home-grown Exynos 8895 SoC. However, depending on the superiority of the consoles, the processor will vary.
In the storage part, all phones are likely to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard memory with an expandable option up to 2TB. Among other features, we can expect 12-megapixel Dual-Pixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera sensor, IRIS scanner, a rear fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication, and Android 7.1 Nougat OS with a layer of TouchWiz UI on top to ship with the upcoming smartphones of Samsung.
Samsung will be launching both models on 29th of this month, while the sale will go on from 21st April.
