NASA wants you to send your name to Sun; Everything you need to know

Here is a good news for space enthusiasts across the world. The US space agency NASA has invited the general public to become part of its mission to Sun. NASA’s Parker Solar probe is getting ready for its mission to Sun and NASA is giving people a chance to send their names to Sun through the spacecraft. Going to Sun is almost physically impossible for humans so, NASA wants to ensure that at least the names of people on Earth should reach our own star, the Sun.

According to NASA, the Parker Solar Probe will be the first ever spacecraft traveling to Sun and it will be launched this summer. The solar probe will plunge itself into the Sun’s atmosphere and will orbit through the Sun’s Corona where the temperatures are estimated to be more than one million degrees. NASA said that the Parker Solar Probe will face brutal heat and radiation conditions once it enters the sun’s atmosphere but that will not obstruct it from sending data back to scientists on Earth.

For scientists, understanding the Sun has been of utmost importance because it is from Sun that our Earth and other planets are formed. Hence, through this car-sized Parker Solar Probe, Scientists want to explore the Sun and decode its mysteries. NASA’s Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate, said, “This probe will journey to a region humanity has never explored before. This mission will answer questions scientists have sought to uncover for more than six decades.”

Scientists are hopeful that the maiden mission to Sun can reveal how heat and energy move through Sun’s and how the solar winds come out of Sun. Now, NASA has invited to public to register their names to be sent to Sun aboard the Parker Solar Probe and this makes the Solar mission more interesting In a video uploaded on NASA’s official website, Star Trek’s William Shatner was seen talking about NASA’s invitation in sending names of general public to Sun in its upcoming Solar mission. In the video, Shatner asked, “Want to join NASA on a historic mission of discovery?” He said that NASA’s Parker solar probe will be the first-ever spacecraft to Sun it will carry his name as well as the names of every who want join this voyage of extreme exploration.

“Parker Solar Probe is going to help us learn about how the Sun works, how it affects life and technology here on Earth,” Shatner said. Interested people who want to send their names to Sun can submit their names before April 27. NASA will load the names of the people on a memory chip that will fly onboard the Parker Solar Probe.
