The smartphone subsidiary of Lenovo, Moto in an official blog post announced a list of its handsets which will get the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update. It happened again that Moto just skipped the two-month-old devices and those are- Moto E4 and the Moto E4 Plus, launched in India in July 2017. Also, the most-liked phones of the company; Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are not getting the update.
As we look back on, Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus set afloat last year in may in India. This is surprising because Nowadays, mostly handsets usually support all the software updates up to two years by the manufacturers.
“Sweet just got even sweeter with the new Android OS update that gives you faster speeds, longer battery life, split-screen capabilities, smart text selection, improved notifications, autofill framework for your trickiest of passwords, and of course, the all-new Google Play Protect, helping to ensure none of your apps become compromised,” As per the company’s blog. “We’re happy to confirm Android 8.0 Oreo will be joining our fleet of Motorola smartphones, starting this fall.”
The list of Moto smartphones mentioned in the post which will get the latest updates are:
- moto z
- moto z Droid
- moto z Force Droid
- moto z Play
- moto z Play Droid
- moto z2 Play
- moto z2 Force Edition
- moto x4
- moto g5
- moto g5 Plus
- moto g5S
- moto g5S Plus
These smartphones are getting latest Android Oreo update.
Aside from this Moto X(1st generation) will get the upgrade only until December 2017. In case, if you have not upgraded please do it as soon as possible.
Just in brief, Android 8.0 Oreo is faster operating processor gives you background limits, autofill (remembers logins), allows you to see two apps at once, notification dots to give you quick access to the app without opening the app, Google Play Protect, strong battery saver and redesigned emoji set to express more.
Why Moto doing the same each time? Last year, the company has skipped its premium series handsets Moto X Play and Moto X Style also the popular ones, Moto G3 and G3 Turbo with the Nougat update. Besides, we have never seen an update for the budget handsets of its E series. Though it’s been only two to three months of their launches this time as well the Moto is skipping the Oreo update for them.
Earlier, Moto was known for first rolling out the Android and security updates but with these strategies, the company is vanishing out its image in the market. In our opinion, the company has to release at least two next updates for its smartphones. What do you, people think please share your views in the comment section below.
