India to host its own Mobile World Congress in September 2017: COAI

MWC 2017, Barcelona

Every year the GSM Association organises the world most grand exhibition for mobile phones along with a conference to entertain significant mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners from across the world. This event is basically known as Mobile World Congress or MWC. Recently the MWC was organised at Barcelona between 27 February to 2 March 2017 and is expected to be organised at Mobile World Congress Shanghai between 28th June 2017 to 1st July.

Now India has got this golden opportunity to host the Mobile World Congress in September 2017 for the first time. The MWC in India may be organised from 27 September 2017 to 30 September 2017 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This MWC is primarily intended to reach out the South East Asian markets.

Although this year it was organised at Barcelona and still, a mini version of the event is about to be organised at Shanghai, the outreach of the event to the South East Asian markets was not up to the mark. So the Cellular Operators Association of India claimed that India is growing at a faster pace in the telecom industries so it could be an ideal place to organise such an event and also showcase its potential. It is really awesome that the Department of Telecom and the Ministry of Electronics and IT have also put in their maximum efforts for the success of the MWC in India.

MWC 2017

“We have held the meeting with official representatives of other governments as well as Indian mobile operators, Facebook, Huawei, Ericsson, Cisco etc are likely to participate in the mobile congress”, said  COAI Director General.

The COAI has also requested other Indian business association to come together and be part of it. The MWC conference will be focused the basic principles of Make in India and Digital India promoting the sharing of the latest advancement in technology and the startup areas. The MWC in India would not only showcase the potential in Indian Markets or advancements in technology but it could also provide an opportunity to boost up these things in India.
