Finally, Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 users are now able to update their firmware with the latest updates. As Microsoft has introduced a range of improvement with this new update. However, the updates have yet to solve the battery drain and wake-up issues.
The updates released on Thursday, January 2016 was focused on offering thermal tuning, wireless access point compatibility, and better support for 5GHz Wi-Fi network for both the Surface devices- Surface Book and Surface Pro 4.
It is quite clear after reading the update description that Microsoft hasn’t fixed the battery drain and sleeping issues, even though it covers enhanced keyboard detection and stability patches for Nvidia graphics cards.
Earlier, Microsoft has already accepted the fact that an issue with Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book was preventing the devices from going to standby mode properly, hence, taking its toll on the battery. Microsoft has found this issue to be happening due to Intel Skylake chipsets. Last month, Microsoft promised that it will fix the above-said issue very soon.
However, according to the users feedback, the new updates are causing driver issues. The new update has made it harder to detach the Surface Book screen. Complaints are also coming, that with the new updates, the Surface devices have stopped recognising the Surface Pen.
All one can do is wait for a new set of updates from Microsoft to resolve all the issues users are facing.
