The very first Lumia phone without Nokia branding will be now available for sale in India. The company has shipped nearly 500k units of Lumia 535 to the country. Besides the exciting new features, device is offered at a great price, what’s amazing about this new phone is that it doesn’t have any Nokia branding, Microsoft finally shaved off the name of the company in the acquisition.
The handset was globally launched in last November, which costs £100 in Europe, while its cost is around $145 in the US. Microsoft Corp. announced the price for the device in India of Rs. 9,199, after one month of the global launch.
As TeCake earlier reported, the smartphone is mechanized with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 clocked at the 1.2 GHz, coupled with 1 GB of RAM. The device comes with 8 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128 GB by via MicroSD card. The company has packed the phone with 1905 mAh BL-L4A battery, which can juice up the phone to play music for almost 78 hours and can allow you to do Wi-Fi surfing for nearly 8.5 hours, after getting it fully charged.
“The new products, we are going to introduce this year, will have their own USPs,” at the venue of announcement, Ajay Mehta, Managing Director of Microsoft Devices says. ”Our role is to commercialize the Microsoft applications and services experiences to consumers and sustain the phones business.”
“Microsoft will not launch Asha series or X series smartphones anymore. The company will now look at the designing of new feature phones for Indian consumers,” he concluded the statement.
However, he did not mention about the leaks that were found, claiming the production of Microsoft Lumia 940. According to these leaks, the device will run on Windows Phone 10, which is yet to be unveiled officially.
Microsoft Corp. is going to roll out official Windows Phone 10 update for all Lumia smartphones. According to Satya Nadela, CEO of the company, the company is going to unify all of its operating systems under a single banner. Laptops, tablets, hybrids and desktops will share the same source as that one for phones. It may be assumed that the update to Windows Phone 10 will be provided, in Q2 2015.
