Karan Johar’s ‘Brother’ releasing ahead of SRK’s ‘Fan’

Aditya Chopra’s Fan starring SRK has been postponed to give Karan Johar’s Brother starring Akshay Kumar the August 14 slot. This may be seen as an act of brotherly love since this is a rare scene where some production house has done such a thing as move their release dates.

“Adi just called and asked me to release BROTHERS on the 14th of August, 2015 as FAN is postponed…gestures like this make my day special,” Karan Johar tweeted to show his gratitude for Aditya Chopra’s humbling gesture.

Fan is an upcoming drama film directed by Maneesh Sharma with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The film is produced under the Yash Raj Films banner. The plot of the film has revealed that SRK will be playing a double role, one of a superstar and one of his “Fan” who looks like him. Leading lady is rumored to be Ileana Dcuz but no confirmation has yet been made.

Whereas, Brothers is an upcoming drama film directed by Karan Malhotra under Dharma Productions banner along with Lionsgate Films and Endemol India. The film is said to be an official remake of the 2011 Hollywood film Warrior. It stars Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez in lead roles and also features Jackie Shroff in a pivotal role.

The story of Brothers hasn’t been revealed, but the story of Warrior is about two brothers who went separate ways and started wrestling for money. They then face each other in a ‘no other choice than winning’ situation in a tournament.

Although it would have been something to watch these two release side by side to see which one wins the audience’s heart. Still the love brewing between Chopra and Johar is more important than our wrestling match between the two films. Now we will be waiting for both the films and their outcomes on their separation.
