Jitender Singh Tomar taken to Faizabad in fabricated degree case

Jitender Singh Tomar was arrested on Tuesday for charges against fake documents to present false degree.  He has now been taken to Faizabad for questioning.  Allegedly the fake documents were present by him when the nomination form for Delhi assembly polls was filed in February this year.

Tomar (49) is a first-time minister and MLA from Tri Nagar. The city court had remanded four-day police custody to Tomar after he was arrested for forging his science graduation, law mark sheet and migration certificate.

Investigators have claimed that nearly one-month long investigation was done and FIR was also lodged. Then it was established that in 2011 Tomar had submitted fake documents to register with the Bar Council of Delhi.

Manish Sidodiya has informed that on the evening of his arrest itself, Tomar had quit as a minister and Arvind Kejriwal accepted his resignation.

Delhi High Court was informed on Monday by the Bihar based University that they do not have any record of Delhi Law Minister Jitender Tomar completing his law degree from there.

An affidavit was filed by Tilak Manjhi Bhagalpur University which stated Tomar’s provisional certificate as fabricated. Tomar’s roll no was also claimed to be incorrect. Justice Rajiv Shahdher before whom the affidavit was filled said that Tomar’s name does not exist in University records

Meanwhile, the Manohar Lohia Avadh University had also accepted that Tomar’s graduation degree was fake. Tomar had claimed to have completed his BSc, from this university.

When the petitioner Santosh Kumar Sharma remained absent from the hearing, High Court had to step in. BJP leader Nand Kishore Garg who had fought the assembly polls against Tomar also approached the court. Advocate Chetan Sharma and Neeraj who will appear for Garg have claimed to possess more proofs of irregularities against Tomar.
