Jitan Ram Manjhi, alleged for anti-party activities by JDU, has finally resigned from his post as Chief Minister of Bihar today before the trust vote that was set to happen later this Friday. Manjhi met Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi an hour prior to the start of the voting and handed him his resignation. He blamed Nitish Kumar, for being the reason behind the resignation as Manjhi and his supporting MLAs received death threats before the trust vote.
Manjhi has been blamed for poor administration in response to that, Manjhi said that he was allowed to work with the stature of his post for only 2 to 3 months, after that he was merely a puppet in the hands of JDU. Nitish Kumar was portrayed as Mahabharat’s character Bhishma Pitahma, where he said nothing when Manjhi was being abused and wasn’t able to do anything for his people by being on his post. Manjhi said that he respected Nitish Kumar, but he let him down.
BJP has withdrawn itself from the controversy saying that this is JDU’s internal matter. But took advantage of the situation and said that JDU has insulted a Maha Dalit, and it shouldn’t be left unattended.
“I appealed Bihar Governor to allow for secret voting, but he said there is no constitutional provision for such an arrangement,” Manjhi said that even the Governor didn’t support his cause.
Manjhi has also said that if he hadn’t resigned from his post, he would have lost his life today. He had received death threats through SMSes along with some of his supporter MLAs. Nitish was afraid of his majority, and that’s why he stooped to this level.
To this, Nitish said it to be a bluff, saying that this is a ruse of Manjhi for the next voting because he didn’t have enough people on his side let alone majority and would have faced a certain defeat if he would have taken part in the voting.
