In an attempt to take on Jio, the current market leader in the telecom industry, Idea Celluar has upgraded its Rs 309 plan that it launched recently. Now, Idea has decided to provide 1.5 GB data per day instead of 1GB data for its existing 309 plan. This decision of Idea to revamp its latest 309 plan has come as a counter response to Jio’s recently launched Happy New Year Offer.
Jio recently announced its Rs 199 plan in which it will offer 1.2 GB of data daily with unlimited free calls and access to Jio services like Jio TV, Jio Cinema, etc. So to take on Jio’s Rs 199, plan Idea announced its upgraded Rs 309 plan in which it will be offering a sum total of 42GB of data with a validity of 28 days. Along with that, the company will be offering unlimited local /STD calls, free roaming calls and hundred SMSes per day under its 309 plan.
Also, the Idea subscribers buying the Rs 309 plan will get 250 minutes of free call daily and 1,000 minutes of free call per week. If the subscribers cross the daily free call limit, then they will have to pay one paisa per second after exhausting the call cap. For exhausting the daily 100 SMS limit per day, Idea customers have to pay Re 1 per SMS. Ide is also offering 1GB extra data for its users who recharge through the MyIdea app/website. This is not the first time that Idea has decided to take on Jio by revamping its existing plan. Earlier this month, the Aditya Birla Group-owned telecom operator revised its Rs 398 plan which now offers 1GB data per day for 70 days. Jio has a similar Rs 309 plan which offers 1GB of daily data with a validity of 49 days.
Recently, there has been a heated competition between Jio and other leading telecom operators. Ina n attempt to tale on Jio’s cheap and customer friendly data packs, telecom giants like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, all have reduced the tariffs on their plans. With its mouthwatering data packs, Jio has taken a huge share of the telecom market. That is why Airtel, Idea an Vodafone are constantly revamping their data plans and offering them at reduced costs so as to counter Jio.
