Huawei Honor 8 to get EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat tomorrow

As earlier revealed at the Japanese roll out, Huawei is all set to release the latest Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0 Nougat Update for its Honor 8 smartphone. The company further stated that the rollout will begin from tomorrow and it targets that it will reach to each phone by the end of this month.

Earlier in January while launching the same in Japan, Huawei announced that the nougat update for the Honor 8 smartphone will be rolled out in February 2017.

You don’t need to keep checking for the update, it is pushed OTA (over the air) and therefore will be notified to you just when the option is available. The same could be done manually by visiting Setting > About Phone > Software Update. There you will be able to see if there are any updates for your device that are ready to be downloaded.

It is recommended to use Wi-Fi, Hotspot or an unlimited data plan for downloading the same as it weighs around 2.27 GB, the file, however, in some regions it weighs 1.97 GB, the reason of the difference in the weights is unknown. The storage space must be check prior to the download. The new update promises to have more stability, power management, and security improvements, all apps will be locked with a unique password if the owner wants this setting, providing him with extra security.

In terms of specs and features, all three smartphones are enriched with high-end technology, state-of-the-art features, and modern functionalities. If you inspect Honor 8, the specification segment of the model is enhanced with features like 5.2-inch Full HD display (1080 x 1920 pixels resolution), company’s own  HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor (Cortex-A72 4 x 2.3GHz + ARM Cortex-A53 4 x 1.8GHz, Mali-T880), 4GB RAM, 32GB ROM, 8 megapixel front and 12 mp real camera. Like Huawei P9, Honor 8 is also enriched with a dual-camera set-p, each with the 12-mp shooter. Powered by a 3000mAh battery, Honor 8 is tagged with Rs. 29,999 ($449). Four colours like Pearl White, Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, and Gold are reported to accompany Honor 8.

Rolling over to Honor 8 Smart, the phone packs a 5.2-inch display 1080p display, 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 rear camera and, 8-megapixel front snapper, Huawei’s own Kirin 650 processor, and a 3000mAh battery. Tagged with Rs. 19,999 ($299), Honor 8 Smart runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow running the EMUI 4.1 skin on top. Moreover, Honor 8 Smart will be available in three colour variants like Black, White, and Gold.
