Honor, from Huawei terminal, has launched two new smartphones in India, namely, the Honor 5X and Honor Holly 2 Plus. The 2GB RAM variant of Honor 5X is priced at Rs. 12,999 and the Honor Holly 2 Plus has been priced at Rs. 8,499.
The Honor smartphones will be available for sale via Flipkart and Amazon India. The Honor 5X will go up for pre-order at 3:00 PM on Thursday, with sales set to begin on February 1. While, the Honor Holly 2 Plus will go on sale from, February 15.
The Honor 5X has already been unveiled in China in October 2015. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the EMUI 3.1 skin on the top. It features a 5.5-inch full-HD with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution IPS display. Under the hood, the Honor 5X runs on a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 (four cores at 1.5GHz and four cores at 1.2GHz) clubbed with Adreno 405 GPU.
In the camera section, the 5X sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 28mm wide-angle lens, 5P lens, and Blue Glass IR filter. The device houses a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, 22mm wide-angle, 4P Lens, Blue Glass filter and a shooting range of 88 degrees.
The Honor 5X is backed by a 3000mAh battery, claiming to deliver up to 1.46 days of regular usage time and up to 1.01 days of heavy usage time. The device can charge up to 50 percent battery in 30 minutes with its Quick Charge 3.0. The smartphone comes with the latest ‘Fingerprint 2.0’ tech, which can unlock the handset in as little as 0.5 seconds. The sensor is placed on the rear panel below the camera, and apart from allowing users to take selfies and make calls, can also lock files and apps.
The Honor 5X includes connectivity option like Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE (FDD and TDD). The device measuring 151.3x 76.3x 8.15mm, and weighing 158 grams will be available in Silver and Gold color options.The phone offers dual-4G standby support with its dual-SIM slot (Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM).The 16GB inbuilt storage on the Honor 5X can be expanded via microSD card (up to 128GB).
Talking about the Honor Holly 2 Plus, this dual-SIM dual-4G runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with the company’s EMUI 3.1 skin on top with an option for switching to a Simple UI. It houses a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixel) IPS display and is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P SoC coupled with Mali 720 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The Honor Holly 2 Plus sports a rear camera with a 13-megapixel and LED flash. It bears a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone sports 16GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The phone is powered by a 4000mAh battery and features connectivity specifications of including 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB. The smartphone features a textured rear panel.
For customer satisfaction, Honor India at the launch event announced that both smartphones will come with 15 months warranty in India, and 1-month free screen replacement. The company noted the warranty will remain valid even if the smartphone is rooted.
