With massive batteries, Gionee updated its smartphone portfolio by two new smartphones M6 and M6 Plus on Tuesday. Both of the phones differ in sizes and a little in specifications.
The Gionee M6 and M6 Plus come in Champagne Gold and Mocha Gold colour variants. The former will be available for sale from August 6, priced at CNY 2,699 (~ Rs. 27,200) for its 64GB storage variant, and CNY 2,899 (~ Rs. 29,200) for the 128GB storage variant. While, the latter will be available in Chinese market from August, priced at CNY 2,999 (~ Rs. 30,200) for its 64GB storage variant, and the 128GB variant is priced at CNY 3,199 (roughly Rs. 32,200).
Apart from the gigantic batteries, the highlighting feature of the smartphone is its data encryption chip which ensures extra security of user’s communication and content. The encryption chip allows users to protect from malware by securing IM communication content from being easily decrypted. However, it has been reported that the encryption chip will be offered in Chinese variants only, while, the variant to be launched globally will just sport a fingerprint sensor.
Talking about the Gionee M6, it flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Amoled display with 401ppi pixel density, 100 percent NTSC gamut, and 2.5D curved glass protection. On camera section, the handset features a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and LED flash coupled with an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
Running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Amigo 3.5 OS, the smartphone is powered by a 64-bit 1.8GHz MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor bundled with 4GB RAM. Both of the storage variants of the handset comes with microSD card support up to 128GB.
Coming to the highlighting feature for which the lineup is popular is the battery. The M6 features a 5000mAh battery which claims to last up to 6.4 hours of video playback, 55 hours of continuous call, and 794 hours (33 days) of stand-by time. For saving users’ time in charging the device it comes with fast charging technology, fully charges the smartphone in two hours.
The Gionee M6 also boasts a fingerprint sensor housed in the home button and supports several standard connectivity features like 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/EDGE, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, Bluetooth, WLAN, USB OTG, and Micro-USB port.
While, the Gionee M6 Plus is slightly larger than its sibling as it comes featured with a 6-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Amoled display. It also sports an improved 16-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a bigger 6020mAh battery.
