Facebook Messenger TeCake

After allowing users from the selected areas of US, Canada, Venezuela and Peru, Facebook has globally allowed its users to use its Facebook Messenger app without signing in through a Facebook account.

The social media giant, however, suggests the users to sign up to the app to sync the chats and contacts so that they can continue the conversations from different devices.

“With this update, more people can enjoy all the features that are available on Messenger – including photos, videos, group chats, voice and video calling, stickers and more. All you need is a phone number, ”  Facebook said in a blog post.

“For those who have Facebook accounts, there are many benefits to using your Facebook credentials when signing up for Messenger. People can easily message with their Facebook friends and contacts, access their Facebook messages and take advantage of multi-device messaging across mobile devices, the web and tablets.”

By upgrading the app, it prompts the user with an option – “Not on Facebook?”. If the user opts for “NO”, the account less system will ask users to enter their first name followed by the last name and the phone number and an optional photo, same as the company’s WhatsApp messenger.

However, the users will be able to connect with existing friends by the allowing the app to the saved contact numbers in the phone. It will match them with the numbers stored in the Facebook’s database, associated with profiles.
