The social media giant, Facebook is going to update their terms and policies from Jan 1, 2015. The company is notifying their users by an article mentioning that by using their services after update, user agrees with their updated terms, data policy, etc.
“By using our services after January 1, 2015, you agree to our updated terms, data policy, and cookies policy and to seeing improved ads based on apps and sites you use. Learn more below about these updates and how to control the ads you see,” clearly mentioned in the post.
Facebook is also going to provide additional features and controls to help users to manage their personal information. The company took the updating steps after several feedbacks received by million of facebook users worldwide.
People will now get a feature of Privacy Basics which will lead to offer interactive guides to answer the most commonly asked questions about how to manage information on Facebook. According to the announcement, the updates in the policies will reflect in the Facebook experience as,
- The company is updating policies to explain how we get location information that will reflect in the nearby discovery of news feed.
- To make purchases more convenient Facebook is going to introduce its new ‘buy’ button which was developed and tested in the partnership with ‘Stripe’.
- To provide optimal performance for smartphone users, the company will use the information like signal and battery strength which will help them in making sure that the apps are working well.
In addition to it, the user will get some more control over the ads as; previously, users using multiple devices; it was difficult to control the types of ads. However, by updating terms Facebook is now providing opt out feature to select the ad category that the user wants to see. Also, the ad preferences will now be available in additional countries like Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK.
