University of California, Davis reported that sugar-sweetened beverages play a crucial role in getting you into the risks of chronic health problems. The new study suggests that calories from any food product are capable of getting you increased obesity and other diseases related to cardio-metabolism.
The risk of the diseases tends to increase even when you consume the diets that do not put on your weight. Around 22 researchers were made on this subject which explored all the calorie types and examined whether all of them are equal when it comes to considering the effects of cardio-metabolic diseases and obesity. According to the latest study, an extensive review of the science on diets was done which explains that it can cause obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and type II diabetes as well.
The authors believe that the aspartame does not initiate weight gain in adults. According to Stanhope, this might be a surprise package for most of the people. He said that if you go on the internet and look up aspartame, the layperson would be convinced that aspartame is certainly going to make them obese which are not true. The true fact here is that there have been no such human studies conducted where noncaloric sweeteners display weight gain. The lead author of the study, Kimber Stanhope said that this is an impressive group of scientists with vast experience in nutrition and metabolism agreeing with the conclusion that sugar-sweetened beverages increase the cardio-metabolic risk factors compared to equal amounts of starch.
Another important thing to consider here is the role sugar substitute aspartame. Intake of polyunsaturated fats that are found in substances like vegetable oils, nuts, reduce the risk of diseases as compared to that of the equal quantities of saturated fats. According to the study paper, there were significant challenges reviewed that consisted of interpreting the research for nutrition. The study has been published in the Journal Obesity Reviews. The authors agree with the fact that a healthy diet consisting of processed whole grains, fruits, veggies, and healthy fats help promote health as compared to that of typical refined palatable western diet.
