Bombay Velvet trailer release: Review

Bombay Velvet trailer release review

The much talked film of the B-town starring the sizzling Ranbir Kapoor and Bollywood beauty Anushka Sharma’s Bombay Velvet has seen the release of its first trailer. The trailer has seen praises as well as not so good reviews from its viewers. The trailer has seen a view hit of about 2 million since its release on 19th March 2015.

The film features Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar in lead roles with Kay Kay Menon, Manish Choudhary, Raveena Tandon and Siddharth Basu appearing in supporting roles. It is the story of a boxer, Johnny Balraj, and his lover and a jazz singer, Rosie, and how their life pans out with the oddities that stand between them with Karan Johar playing his debut role as a villain in this one.

The trailer however has been a tad bit of a boredom with a tinge of too much obviousness added. The trailer is supposed to peek interest in the audience rather than give them the idea, what the film is going to be about.

Johnny is shown being a very powerful guy shown through his punches and the sounds they make when they land on his opponents. He also has a heart that knows love, as he is shown falling in the love at first sight with Anushka Sharma. Then entered Karan Johar, who is obviously the bad guy, as he is portrayed by intense looks, whiskey sipping and the villian’s game; horse race gambling.

The film emphasizes on the retro theme way too much, and Ranbir is shown sporting the look of his grandfathers, Shammi and Raj Kapoor. Karan is also seen trotting in his tux and a thin line moustache whilst Anushka is seen in all too unrealistic costumes, given her line of work which indicates either being a jazz singer in the 60’s meant fortune or the makers just over did it.

Although the trailer is a bit of a setback, but with Anurag Kashyup’s direction, we don’t think that it would be something that is not worth watching.
