Bollywood actress Vidya Balan receives Honorary Doctorate TeCake

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has received Honorary Doctorate for her contribution to Indian Cinema by Rai University on this Monday in Mumbai. The artist is overwhelmed to achieve this accolade.

She recollected her childhood memories in the event and wished that her school principle should see this and bless her. Dressed in the convocation attire, emotional Vidya shared an interesting story about her school days, “When I was in standard nine my school principle got annoyed with me thinking that I was making noise in the classroom. She came and asked me what was the meaning of my name – Vidya? I told her that it meant knowledge. And she reciprocated saying, ‘Knowledge toh tumhare aas paas bhi nahin bhatakta’.”

“I am extremely overwhelmed with the honor I received today. I wish that the principle sees what I have achieved”. The Dirty Picture girl added further.

The Prestigious National Award winning actress attained the function on Monday evening with her parents, sister, brother-in-law, nephew and her husband Siddharth Roy Kapoor. Family and friends congratulated her. Fans showered her with best wishes, love and acknowledgement.

Currently, the B-Town diva is busy promoting her upcoming film Hamari Adhuri Kahani co-starring, Emraan Hashmi. The movie depicts a story about a woman who faces domestic violence in hand of her husband. Rajkumar Rao is also playing a key role in the upcoming drama.

Interestingly, the starlet also completes ten years in Bollywood, and considers filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar as her guru and says, “If he would not have shown faith in me, then I would not be at the position where I am today”. The director gave Vidya a break in Bollywood with his directorial debut Parineeta. After the release, she never looked back.

Hamari Adhuri Kahani actress is known for portraying a strong side of women on Indian Cinema. Her natural acting fetched her huge acclamation both critically and commercially. She is also a recipient of great Indian honor Padamshree.
