After maintaining an inexplicable stillness of few months, Blackberry, the Canadian-based multinational has launched two new Android smartphones in India. Yesterday, at a formal event of the company, Blackberry introduced two of its new Android-based flagship called “DTEK50 & DTEK60” with the starting price of Rs. 21, 990. Both phones are manufactured by the Taiwanese company TCL and are labelled with the logo of Blackberry. DTEK50 is priced at Rs. 21,990 and DTEK60 are tagged with Rs. 46,990 for the Indian market. DTEK50 & DTEK60 are the first flagships of Blackberry, after the pack up of in-house smartphone production of the company.
In terms of price, the BlackBerry DTEK50 is the less pricey of the two smartphones of Blackberry. Along with 5.2-inch full HD LCD display, BlackBerry DTEK50 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 SoC processor coupled with 3GB RAM. In internal storage option, the phone is packed with 16GB internal memory which is further expandable up to 200GB through SD-card slot. Backed by a 2610mAh battery, BlackBerry DTEK50 runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow.
Apart from the satisfactory quality of manufacturing and first-class ergonomics, the DTEK50 lacks the fluid performance capacity. Blackberry with the first model seems to give more focus on software sect, bringing the flexibility of Android together with the sanctuary of communication that every Blackberry phones used to have. In camera part, the phone is enriched with a 13 MP rear shooter accompanied by f/2.0, phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, while in the front part; it has 8 MP snapper for video chat and selfies. Tagged with Rs. 21, 990 price range, the phone misses the fingerprint scanner.
Moving up to the second release of Blackberry, DTEK60 seems faster enough than the aforementioned phone. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC paired with 4GB RAM, DTEK60 is mated on 5.5 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. On the software front, the phone runs on Android v6.0 Marshmallow OS and is backed by a non-removable Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery. With 32GB native storage, DTEK60 also has 21MP primary and 8MP front snapper, accompanied by phase detection autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash. In sensor option, the phone is equipped with Fingerprint scanner along with an accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass options. Measuring 153.9 x 75.4 x 7 mm and weighing 165 gram, DETK60 is enriched with Android Marshmallow’s superior security features.
Blackberry, in both of its devices, not only focuses more on restrict background feature access but also gives more emphasis on more enhancing the security and privacy of the users. In addition, Blackberry also has integrated both smartphones with an app called Security Center which is designed to let users know the level of security on their phone and put forward the options how to make the phone safer.
