Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, set 2016 free and welcomed the new year, 2017 with a ‘Make in India’ gift to his citizens. On December 30th, 2016, Mr. Narendra Modi declared the launch of new online transaction platform, BHIM App. The application has been only launched for android yet. However, very soon its iOS version will be launched in the market. The BHIM App has been specially designed to politely insist Indian citizens go cashless.
In just 4 days, the BHIM App has been downloaded 3 million times from play store and has a 4.7 rating, which is highest among all android apps till date. The android Application has already witnessed 500,000 successful transactions in four days. Niti Ayog CEO, Amitabh Kant soon tweeted, ” BHIM App – 3 million downloads since launch, No 1 on Play Store in India amongst all apps, over 500,000 transactions since launch. #MakeinIndia.”
BHIM App stands for Bharat Interface for Money. It is designed and launched by NCCI and has a simplified transaction platform powered by UPI and USSD. The application is launched to aim at the increment of the digital economy of India. The Application is ‘now trending’ in play store right now and is expecting to be the most trending app for the next two months.
Mr. Narendra Modi’s November 8 demonetisation movement have caused a lot of problem for general citizens of India. But Modi’s sudden gift to his citizen, the BHIM App has almost put the citizen in silence mode. Finally, with the launch of this application, the Indian citizens have got a strong platform and courage to go cashless in Modiji’s #gocashlessIndia movement. The BHIM App is India’s biggest achievement under Modiji’s ‘Make in India’ movement since the app is centrally coded, designed and launched in India itself. It is expected that the application will reduce the long queues outside the ATMs.
