The 2015 Aston Martin Lagonda has finally been unveiled in Oman. The new Lagonda inherits the 6.0-liter V-12 engine from Aston Martin’s Rapide. Aston Martin CEO Dr. Andy Palmer, unveiled the Lagonda at an exclusive Dubai hotel, revealing that the brand is considering selling its Lagonda super-saloon in global markets due to the unprecedented response to the car worldwide.
Dr. Palmer addressed the audience at Dubai, and announced that the car will be called the ‘Lagonda Taraf,’ which translates to ‘ultimate luxury’ in the Middle East. It will be available for sale in 2015 with a price tag approximately of £400,000. With that huge price tag, the interiors are even more luxurious, and the engine is more refined than its super saloon brother, the Rapide S.
Aston Martin initially is planning to build 100 of these cars, then sell them to a select group of Middle Eastern customers on an invitation-only basis. The Lagonda will be hand crafted by a team of skilled car makers, back at Aston Martin’s primary facility in Gaydon, England — the same building earlier used for the One-77 hyper car’s construction. Deliveries are scheduled to commence in early 2015.
Being designed by Aston’s design Chief Marek Reichmann, Lagonda will be based on the VH platform that underpins all the current Aston Martins. The car’s interior features lavish seats covered in Quilted leather, advanced infotainment system and climate system to play with in the back, all girded by gorgeous aluminum trim. The center console looks quite similar to the Rapide’s.
The exterior features Elegant LED front and rear lights, wedge-shaped body, which is very aerodynamic, and Aston Martin front badge emblem changed to just ‘Lagonda’. The V12 is capable of making 550bhp and 63.2kgm of torque, whooping an amazing 0-100kph time of less than 5.0 seconds and a top speed of 306kph.
