Airtel, Idea and Vodafone introduces free voice calling tariffs to beat Jio’s heat

Jio’s sensational services have kept on overwhelming the Indian telecom market. Jio is the only company who managed to grab with millions of subscriber before its commercial debut. With the offers for free and unlimited voice call, video call, the internet, messaging, and roaming, the Reliance-powered Jio has shaken the entire market, users, and other telecom operators’ status too.

Only in 83 days of its launch, Jio was able to gain 52 million users. To beat the heat of Jio, yesterday the number one telecom operator Bharti Airtel and the third operator Ideal Cellular launched their new voice call tariff with the sliced price range. And now to the number two Indian telecom company, Vodafone also has come up with a new and reduced tariff for voice call for its prepaid subscribers.

Vodafone India introduced two new voice call packages for its prepaid user. In order to match up Jio’s unlimited voice call service, Vodafone launched two new unlimited voice call packs with additional data benefit. Under the new inferior scheme, Vodafone users will get unlimited voice call from Vodafone-to-Vodafone with extra data benefit while the higher value will allow users to enjoy unlimited voice call from Vodafone to any other networks for 28-days.

Under the new tariffs, Vodafone will offer unlimited voice calling on the recharges above Rs. 144. The pack is also bundled with free roaming on Vodafone network and 50 Mb free data for 28-days. Those who will recharge Rs. 344 will get unlimited free calls and free roaming on all mobiles network. Alongside unlimited calls and roaming, users also will be privileged with 300 MB free 4G data on non-4G handset users and 1 GB data for 4G handset users. As said by Vodafone India in an official statement, both packages are accessible to all 2G, 3G and 4G subscribers with 28-days validity.

With 200 million prepaid users, Vodafone is currently enjoying the second largest telecom operator in India. With the new plans, Vodafone India will meet up Jio’s entry-level tariff of Rs. 149 which is going to be introduced on 1st April 2017, after the end of Jio’s “Happy new Year Offer”.

Airtel and Idea cellular also have introduced their new voice call tariffs which will cost around Rs. 145 and Rs. 345. In order to counter the effect of Jio, the leading telecom brand has also started slashing their data, and voice call tariffs and the recent additions to this list are Idea Cellular and Bharti Airtel.

To fight with the unlimited free voice call offer of Jio, two leading telecom operators in India, Airtel and Idea trimmed down the tariff of their voice call packs and had come up with new voice call packages with additional data benefits. Both Airtel and Idea have introduced new “Free Voice Call Tariffs” which will cost the subscribers same value.

Both Airtel and Idea launched the almost similarly priced voice call packs which are also bundled with internet benefits. On Saturday evening, Bharti Airtel launched two new free voice calling packages of Rs 145 and Rs 345 for its prepaid users coupled with high data benefits.

The Rs 145 tariff will facilitate Airtel prepaid users free local and national Airtel-to-Airtel voice calls and 300 MB free data for 28 days. The second tariff will cost Rs 345 and will allow Airtel users to avail free local and national voice call to any network in India together with 1GB data on 4G-ready smartphones.

Similarly, Idea Cellular also introduced two new sliced voice call tariffs including packs of Rs. 148 and Rs. 348. The Rs. 148 pack will enable Idea users enjoying 300MB 4G Data with 28-days Idea-to-Idea unlimited voice call. On the other hand, with the Rs. 348 package, Idea prepaid subscribers will get unlimited voice call to any networks in India with 1GB 4G data for 28-days validity.

Jio’s unlimited free offer has been taking the market by storm. Since its launch in September this year, the free offers have made millions of Indian telecom drove toward Jio’s network. In one way, while Jio has kept on benefiting Indian cellular users with an unlimited free voice call, data, message, STD, and roaming, in another way it has dropped the market for other existing telecom players like Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, and Vodafone.

Currently, Reliance Jio is offering cost-free unlimited voice call, and data offer to its users. The offer will end on 31st March. Post the timeline; Jio will charge for data and voice calls. Jio already has introduced its entry-level Rs 149 plan for free data and voice calls which will come into power from 1st April 2017.
