‘AAP ka Kejriwal’ could have been ‘Aap ka Bollywood Star’

Dirty politics movie

The ginormous victory of Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Elections has been quite a shocker. Kejriwal has been caricatured by cartoonists Anil Kapoor and PM Modi as Amrish Puri in Nayak. What comes next is another shocker which reveals that Kejriwal was offered to play a lead in the upcoming Malika Sherawat’s film, Dirty Politics.

Dirty politics is directed by K.C. Bokadia and stars Mallika Sherawat, Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Rana, Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Dikshit Dave, Dhruv Agarwal and Naseeruddin Shah.

The plot of the film is based on a case that happened a few years back in Mumbai where the character played by Malika Sherawat formed an illicit relationship with the character of Om Puri and shooted their sexual encounters and gave it to the opposition party to take advantage and blackmail Om Puri. The role of a journalist, that was offered to Kejriwal but now played by Naseeruddin Shah, sets on his journey to help Malika.

Although he quite like the script but due to time constraints, he couldn’t take the role. The trailer of the film had released December last year but at that time the makers haven’t thought it in to reveal this tiny information. But now since Kejriwal is the blast of the year with the Delhi elections, it might just be the information that will get the makers the TRP they need. For people will come to watch it as a film that Kejriwal liked the script of, or the one that he rejection.

His rejection has also been assumed as a diplomatic retrieval to a safer situation since the role that was offered to him was right after his 49 day rule ending as CM of Delhi and he must have thought it to be a better thing to steer clear of such stunts.

The initial date for release of the film was set to be 13th February but has now been moved to 6th March this fall. Hope it fares well.
