42-feet Blue Whale dies at Alibaug coast, Mumbai, later buried by JCB

A 42-feet long blue whale was washed ashore at Alibaug coast, Mumbai and died after struggling for several hours on Wednesday night.

According to officials, the 20-tonne marine mammal was first spotted on Wednesday afternoon and was alive then. Villagers tried to save the largest mammal but there nearly a day-long effort went in vain and the blue whale finally succumbed to death.whale4 tecake

Chief conservator of forests (mangroves cell), N Vasudevan, said that blue whales are biggest species on the Earth which can grow up to 100 feet and it is unfortunate to see such a wonderful creature die after a tidal wave draw her ashore. He further added that such incident usually happens with such big creatures but in most cases the whales go back to the sea once high tide sets in.

Meanwhile, the beach became the picnic spot for the villagers and other people nearby who visited the place along with their children and clicked several pics.

Later with the help of JCB machine dead body of the whale was buried on the beach at Revdanda on Thursday.

Moreover, another whale was found dead at Uran coast of Raigad district nearly two months ago.
